Expressions
from our clients ...
Dear
Caregivers,
You give me peace of mind that Dad is well cared for when I am not on
the Gold Coast, especially important when I live overseas. My brief
was “to be me when I’m not there” and I feel this
is achieved as much as possible.
I’d be happy to be contacted as a reference by any potential new
Caregivers client you wished.
Many thanks, Elaine
Dear Caregivers,
Thank you for the attention given to mum while we were on holidays.

Dear Caregivers,
Dad’s very comfortable with the support from your ladies. Our
arrangements are certainly giving him the confidence and quality of
life that we were looking for when I first talked to you.

Dear
Caregivers,
It is hard to find the right words to express how much your organisation’s
support of my father meant to our family and especially to me.
The ability to start with just a few hours a week four years ago, more
for the companionship after Mum died rather than for medical reasons,
and gradually increase the support on an “as-required” basis
until Dad had 24 hour care made planning and coping so much easier for
us. Most importantly, it ensured Dad retained his independence and dignity
for as long as possible – a top priority.
At 94 Dad’s requirements over the last 18 months when he had 24
hour care were increasingly demanding. Progressively, he was able to
do less and less for himself, initially needing the presence of your
carers and latterly requiring them to perform matters of an intimate
nature for him. The individual carers and nurses on your CareGivers
team took everything in their stride with a cheerful smile and the utmost
professionalism and empathy. For such an independent and private man
invasion of privacy and loss of dignity were potentially huge issues,
which were sensitively and incredibly well handled by your team.
Dad hated crowds and social occasions. He was happiest in one-on-one
situations. Retirement Village life would have accordingly been very
difficult for him whereas having your carers look after him in his own
home, cook for him in his own kitchen and be constant companions to
him was the perfect solution. Since he had 24 hour care I was delighted
to notice that Dad’s memory actually improved in spite of his
advanced years. I’m sure this was due to the mental stimulation
from having your small carefully selected group of individuals looking
after him, each one quite different to the others but collectively forming
an amazing support unit because of their individual and unique strengths.
Your carers treated Dad as an individual, thinking of interesting places
to take him, talking to him on a wide variety of topics and constantly
not just asking questions but being genuinely interested in his replies.
When Mum was alive Dad did not bother to wear his hearing aids or remember
people’s names. He always told Mum “you are my ears and
my memory”. His carers gave him back his desire to hear and to
take an interest not only in his own life but also in the lives of those
around him – and, the ultimate test, he remembered your carers’
names!
In a retirement village this level of support would not have been possible
unless the carers had continued to visit and look after him there. Even
in a hospital situation the hands-on level of care would have been less
in a physical and medical sense and infinitely less in a spiritual and
emotional sense – it is not possible, for example, to put a value
on a hug from someone who genuinely loves you.
At the very end, when Dad was hospitalised and then sent home as there
was no more they could do for him, the empathy and care provided by
your carers and nurses not only made Dad’s last days more bearable,
but it helped my brother and I get through an impossibly difficult time.
The support you and your team provided to the whole family was truly
amazing. Thank you so much.
I would recommend your services to other individuals and families without
hesitation.
It would be my pleasure to speak from personal experience to anyone
requiring further information regarding the outstanding level of care
and service provided by your organisation. Most sincerely and with many
thanks
Elaine
